Join Us in Changing a Child’s Story

Pouring Into Literacy, a community fundraiser hosted by Building Foundations for Success, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to supporting children with dyslexia and families who cannot afford the specialized help their children need.

For many children, learning doesn’t come easily — not because they aren’t capable, but because they learn differently. Without access to early support, these children often fall behind and lose confidence in the classroom. This doesn’t just affect academic success — it impacts how children see themselves. As a community, we believe we can help change and build confidence within the children to succeed.

Pouring Into Literacy was created to bring people together around this mission. It’s an opportunity to support children who need it most while enjoying a fun, meaningful evening with others who care deeply about our community.

This event is about more than fundraising. It’s about showing families they are not alone, investing in children’s futures, and strengthening the community we all share.

OUR MISSION:

To provide children with dyslexia access to specialized tutoring while building confidence and strong learning foundations. This will not only change lives, but generations to come.

WHY WE EXIST:

Building foundations for success focuses on children ages 6–8 in the city of Decatur, when early intervention matters most. Many families struggle to access and afford the tutoring their child desperately needs — and that’s where we step in.

This isn’t temporary help. It’s long-term support for lasting success.

WHERE YOUR SUPPORT GOES:

CHILDREN IN OUR PROGRAM RECEIVE:

✔ 100% of funds go directly to tutoring services

✔ No administrative fees taken from sponsor contributions

✔ Support stays local — helping real families in our community

✔ helping kids to build confidence

✔ Helping kids experience success in school/life

✔ Helping kids believe in themselves again

  • 2–3 specialized tutoring sessions each week

  • Instruction from Orton Gillingham Tutors

  • Ongoing support — we stay with each child until they no longer need tutoring

  • IEP (Individualized Education Program) testing needed, and help them secure a 504 Plan to succeed

COSTS

Providing a full year of specialized dyslexia tutoring for one child costs approximately $18,000. Our fundraising goal this year is $50,000, which will allow us to begin supporting 1–2 children immediately — with the ability to help even more local children as additional funds are raised. These funds also help cover essential program expenses, including renting space for tutoring and working with Orton-Gillingham–trained guides who collaborate with schools and teachers to ensure each child receives consistent, coordinated support.
